Something that I noticed in Florence is that there are so so many places to eat, but you can go the wrong place if you don’t know what you’re doing. So I decided to put a little quick guide to eating in Florence, Italy!
Breakfast:
- Mama’s Bakery: The bagels and smoothies were great! If you want more of an Americanized salad come here for lunch!
- Pizzino Cafe: This was right next to the school I attended so we went every morning! Their croissants were to die for!
**There are bakeries on every corner so for breakfast you really can’t go wrong!
Lunch and Dinner:
- Gusta Pizza: I absolutely loved their pizza! Plus you can get it in a shape of a heart. How cute is that?! Be advised they are closed on Mondays which is sad so plan accordingly
- Cafe Pitti: Everything that I had was great. The bread was my favorite!
- Pizzeria I Tarocchi: I think my roommates and I ate here at least 4 times and hands down they have the best Gnocchi and Pear Ravioli that I had the entire trip!
- Golden View: Make a reservation a couple days in advance so that you are able to get good seats next to a window! This is a must do! Looking at the Pointe Vecchio the entire meal is the only way to truly experience Florence.
- Dimsum: This sounds crazy but at some point, you will want to eat something not Italian food if you are in Italy for a certain period of time. Go here for hand pulled noodles and unlimited tea. Totally worth it!
- Le Colonnine: this is a great place to eat if you are wanting to hit the bars afterward. The most popular bars are just a hop skip away. I recommend the seafood pasta and the Bruschetta! I loved it!
- Ristorante Pizzeria Il Teatro: this was a recommendation by a local so that says a lot right?
- La Bussola: I had the pork with the cherry tomatoes! Delish!
- I Ghibellini: Bruschetta was amazing!
- All’Antico Vinaio: These are the best paninis in Florence and the lines prove that fact! No worries though because they go fast and are worth the wait (which wasn’t that long honestly) Be prepared thought the panini is as big if not bigger than your face!
Gelato:
- Gelato de Neri: Basically 30 seconds from my old apartment (We lived on Brache) and we went here every day. Try their Caramel de Neri at least once I crave it basically ever day since I left!
- Venchi: This is in the shopping district! It was the only one that I cheated on de Neri with and thought it was almost worth it.
- Gelateria Vivaldi: Go here to treat yourself after walking up the hill to the Rose Garden! We went with our school and it was great!
I hope that you enjoy Florence as much as I did! I miss walking 22,000 steps a day more than I thought I would! Go enjoy some amazing gelato and pasta for me!
Have any other restaurant suggestions people should know about?! Leave them in the comments below!
