Ryder and I wanted to go explore the hill country a couple of weekends ago. After weighing the different options and what would be open & safe during the corona virus pandemic, we settled on Driftwood, Texas!
We LOVE to eat so that was a big factor in deciding where to visit. Driftwood, Texas is home of Salt Lick BBQ and let me tell you.. this place was awesome!! We had the rib plate and the sausage plate. Everything I tasted reminded me of the way my grandfather used to make BBQ when we would get together for Mother’s day on our family farm. I have missed that soo much! We also grabbed what we thought would be a slice of peach cobbler.. it was much more than that but tasted just like you would expect a southern peach cobbler to taste – rich. Good thing to note about Salt Lick is that it is BYOB. They have a winery next door that we heard was good, but we brought our own beer so we didn’t try it out.
After we stuffed ourselves silly at Salt Lick BBQ, we headed over to spend the rest of the afternoon at Driftwood Estate Winery. After winding through the country road, we ended up with the most spectacular view. This was probably the best view I have seen since moving to Texas! (Arkansas girl over here!) But the vineyard was down the hill and the winery was at the top! We did a wine tasting, while maintaining 6 feet from the other groups. (Thanks Corona Virus) and then purchased a few glasses of wine, and found a shady spot to sip it while we took in the view.

Overall, we had a wonderful day exploring this little slice of Hill Country and I can’t wait to explore some more! If you’ve made it this far thanks for supporting my blog and keeping up with what I am doing in Texas!
