Well, folks, last week was a dream!! We landed in Destin and we put furniture in our Florida Condo!! I am so fortunate that I was able to come down to help my mom but also take care of some business that I have in Destin in the same week! It was great to be able to escape the chilly weather Arkansas is having! There it was a high of 70 and sunny! Anywho a little update today about a book that I have been reading. If you didn’t know, I received a Christmas present from “Santa,” AKA Mom and Dad that was a Dale Carnegie Book, “How to Win Friends & Influence People” From the title I first thought to myself, “Hey I have lots of friends and I make them easily. Why would I need this?” But my dad wrote a sweet thoughtful note in it saying that although I might hold some of the qualities now it doesn’t ever hurt to learn something new and refresh the old every once in a while.

Let me tell you! This book is freaking awesome! I love it so much that honestly, I feel like teaching a college business course about it. I wish that the Walton College had a course on it when I was in college because:

  1. I would have taken it in a heartbeat.
  2. I would have been better in life because of it.

I have been reading this book a little by little to pass the time on the elliptical at the gym lately, but yesterday on the plane I had a chance to really dig in it! I found a part that I loved and I wanted to share!

“Give honest and sincere appreciation.”

I feel like in our day and age people are so worried about people liking them and leaving comments on Instagram posts or Facebook. Comments on social media and interaction validates our importance. This is so wrong guys!! Your validation should be in the fact that you are who you are and you are going to share it with the world whether they like it or not!

This point that Dale Carnegie made really hit home for me. If you are going to leave a comment on someone’s social media then make sure that it is a sincere comment, not just something that you have copied and pasted a thousand times on other peoples Instagram posts. Be sincere with people in life.

I always tell my boyfriend, “Go do something that impacts someone in a positive way today!” He rarely understands why I say that or what it really means, but that is the goal that I try to have every single day. Say something or do something for someone else to make their day a little brighter. If you have that goal and are genuine with it, not just doing it for praise, then you will have so many more friends at the end of your life. I want to be the one that is remembered for all of the things that I did for people, not the person that always had the chance but never actually took action.

I hope everyone enjoys their Monday! Let this little snippet inspire you this week! If you have something that you experience or want to add please leave a comment below! I would love to hear your feedback!
