Have you ever felt that for whatever reason you just can’t do anything right? Or that you are just somehow failing in areas of your life you think you should be excelling in? Same. Like all the time. But I am here to give you some good news!! It is okay! Let me say that again!! It is okay to fail. It is okay to be imperfect. Our society loves to idolize people and their “perfect” lives. Let me just be the one to say that I am not perfect. Not even remotely close.
Be Yourself
Being imperfect takes some serious skill because you actually have to be yourself. I know crazy right? But seriously you have to be yourself and just try every day to be the best version of yourself that you can be. The greatest secret that no one tells you is that people actually don’t want people to copy every single move that they make. Take me for example, many people buy the clothes that I wear on my Instagram or even try out a recipe that I share. BUT the greatest thing that I want people to know is that I have no desire for someone to want to be me, or to necessarily “copy” what I do. I want my followers to buy something that I am wearing or sharing because they decided that it would be something that supports their views. If we like the same shirt, then great. If we have the same hobby, awesome. But do things for yourself and for no one else.
Confidence
Being cool with being imperfect becomes easier over time because the longer you are yourself, and the more people share their acceptance of you, your confidence builds. Confidence is key when it comes to accepting your imperfectness. Being imperfect is hard because normally we are more critical of ourselves than any other person will be. If you have confidence, when you make a mistake and get on to yourself, you will also have the confidence that next time you will do better.
Faith
Having faith in yourself is also important for being okay with being imperfect. Not only faith in yourself but for me, faith in God. I know that God sent His son to us to die on the cross to save my imperfect self. The Bible literally teaches us that we are meant to be imperfect because we all sin and live in a sinful world. With this knowledge, I can hold that comfort in my heart that Jesus will always love me no matter what mistake I make. That my friends is the best thing about life itself. Knowing that no matter what you do, no matter what you say, He is always there. He is always there to pick you up, brush you off, and help you do better in the future.
Being imperfect is one of the beauties of life. You are supposed to be imperfect. You will make mistakes and it is okay because everyone else in the world is making mistakes too. I pray that you guys find comfort in your own skin and the comfort in Jesus that no matter what, He is always there.
