This past weekend my boyfriend, hi mom, and I set out to hike at the Buffalo River and hike the Hemmed in Hollow trail. It was only 2.5 miles in and 2.5 miles out. So we drove to the trailhead, parked, and started on the first trail that we saw… because of course that had to be it. There was a sign that Ryder stopped to look at that said river 4.1 and Ryder asked if we were on the right one, but we were like that is to the river I’m sure the waterfall is somewhere in between… WRONG! Guys we ended up on an 8.5-mile hike that was the longest and steepest hike of my life. When we got back to the truck finally we walked a little to the left of the trailhead we followed and of course, there it was Hemmed in Hollow trail…. just right next door. Okay so lesson learned on that one, BUT if you are ever wondering what is at the end of the four-mile hike called Sneed’s Creek Trail. Well, look at the pictures above! There was a really cool homestead that was built in the early 1900s and that day the women that actually lived in it as little girls with their grandparents were there revisiting it! That was really cool to see, and there was a smaller bluff called Jim’s Bluff that looked right over the Buffalo River!
All in all, we had a great hike and I wouldn’t take any of it back for a second, but maybe my legs would… I am still super sore from that! No amount of treadmill walking will prepare you for that adventure!
Haha oh my gosh that’s so funny you went on the wrong one! I guess everything happens for reason because the hike looked so fun!
