Today and every day I am thankful for teachers. My whole student career I always found a connection with a teacher or professor that really stuck with me.
In elementary school, I remember my 2nd Grade teacher being my absolute favorite person. She was patient and kind and I attribute my love for reading and writing to her. We spent every morning creative writing about a topic on the board. It is crazy what my 7-year-old self-remembers, but I definitely remember that.
Fast forward to junior high and my love for English and Literature continued. In 8th grade, I looked forward to English more than any other subject. It was challenging, but not hard enough that it was discouraging. I really learned to express myself through my words and vocabulary.
In high school, I was involved in all kinds of clubs and extracurricular activities and I still looked forward to English the most. Are you seeing a common theme here? Haha. I also really enjoyed History and the Business classes I took. Behind all of the lesson plans stood women, and each one was more inspiring than the one before her.
My teachers were all patient, encouraging, and selfless. Even when they were having a bad day, they somehow managed to make a positive impact on me. I still remember Mrs. Ferguson starting the class every single day saying, “Okay class we have so much to do today” and the sheer excitement that her face exuberated. She was always excited to teach us new things and broaden our horizons.
I am thankful for all of my teachers and also the friends that I have becoming teachers. Expanding and teaching a young mind is one of life’s biggest blessings and I don’t think we thank you all enough.
