Welcome to yet another day of thankfulness. Today I am sharing why I am thankful that I have a job. In 2008 the economy wasn’t doing so hot, and neither was the job market. Thankfully, by the time that I graduated from college, the market was doing much better. It is doing so good that some people are waiting for it to take a turn for the worst at any moment. Me? I am just living in the moment and appreciating what I have.

Someone recently told me that I don’t deserve anything. Everything I have is earned, and that I am not entitled to anything. While at the time I thought that they were just being rude, I started to think about what they said. They were actually right. I think that since my peers and I were in high school when the market crashed, although I saw the effects that the recession had on my parents and the families around me, I didn’t understand. Without experiencing it myself it was hard to truly understand the impact if it wasn’t directly on yourself and your finances.

I am thankful to have a job because it puts a roof on my head. It helps pays the bills. It allows me to do the fun things that I like to do. Without a job, I wouldn’t be contributing to society and I probably would be begging my mom to let me sleep on her couch! Without my job, I would really struggle to understand what it is I was put on this Earth to do.
